JOURNALS AND POETRY
Tuong the Poem
Hi, my name is Tuong Vo.
I’m as valuable as gold.
I’m a huge sports fan, football and the Chargers all the way!
But you know what’s pathetic? The Oakland Raiders and Jorge!
When you first meet me you might think I’m dumb,
But did I mention I am really handsome?
Not all of friends agree especially my friend Tom.
He’s wrong, everyone compliments me on my good looks especially my mom.
I love to eat, especially food from Vietnam
Man it is so good, Vietnamese food is the bomb.
Times has flown by me so fast. Woah nine years have gone by quick.
To speak the truth, now and then I get home sick.
But I know that all my good adventures here haven’t ended.
I know it will be awesome as long as I don’t get unfriended.
My Lovely Grandma
My grandma, one of the woman I care most about my life.
She is so beautiful to her youth and to her last ages.
She was special to me, so wise tell me stories and life choices.
She cared for me with everything she got, from making me food to loving me.
She would correct me when I was wrong.
She would be happy when I do the right things.
She would yell at me when I was doing something bad.
She would laugh at me when I do something funny.
She was there when I was 1.
And she was there when I was 12.
The last gift you give me I will always cherish it.
The last kiss you gave me, it felt warm.
The tears flow down from my eyes when I got the news.
The endless crying of my mother, made me feel useless.
What she would always tell me.
“Remember respect your parents and excel in school.”
“Eat more you’re too skinny.”
“I love you.”
Grandma I wish you were here so I give you one last hug.
Tears flow down me like an endless river when I think about you.
I miss you, I love you, I know you’re looking down and smiling at me.
Who I Am
I am from families, from the goofy and crazy temple family
I am from the sweat from the sports and lion dance practice.
(Clear, smelly, it smells like victory.)
I am from the lions dance heads, which will never be get rid of, treasure it as if I’m the only one they’ll ever find.
I am from a loving and from holidays and karaoke.
I am from the annoying tattle-teller and the cute slow thinkers.
From moments of excitement!
To moments of sadness.
I am from Vietnamese music, a soothing wonderful lyrics, and rhythms in which makes you closer together.
I am from Temple and Vietnam, amazing people and tastiest foods.
From the stories we share and love from the past, and memories.
The memories we look back and wish they’ll come back.
On the top shelf of the rooms multiple shining trophies that says our name, photos taken back when I am from those memories and so are my families photos which is priceless photos that brings back the good and bad memories looking back I know who are my true family.
