Project Aim
To understand how new and emerging scientific discoveries spark fear of the unknown and controversy amongst groups. Scientific advancement requires acceptance of fear and education in order to move forward. For this topic I have chose the controversy and the enigma of the new Earth 2.0 and other planets alike Earth being discovered.

INTRODUCTION
Did you know that there is another planet, or should I say multiple planets, that share astounding similarities to the planet we are on, Earth? Well, whether you did or did not I’m going to fill your brain with knowledge about “Earth’s twin”, “Earth 2.0”. It’s name is exactly what it sounds like, it’s another planet that resembles Earth. The Earth’s doppelgangers are Kepler-186f and Kepler-452b. The closest resemblance to Earth is Kepler-452b, this planet is 1,400 light-years away from Earth, and about 6 billion years old. That’s 1.5 billion year older than Earth and our sun.
"Kepler-452b is the first exoplanet found which is orbiting a similar star to our sun, known as a G2-type star, at a similar distance from its star that Earth is from the sun. This gives it a greater chance of having the conditions, surface temperature, atmosphere, and water, that are needed for life, than any other planet ever detected in our galaxy". So what they're trying to say is that there is a high possibility that there is life on Kepler-452b which means the theory of life forms other than Earth are possible. Did you know Kepler is the same temperature as our sun and scientist believe a thick cloud cover, oceans and very active volcanoes Nasa has been interested in this project for about 20 years. They’re so interested that “Nasa have spent $600 million on this kepler mission,” according Nasa.gov. The Kepler Mission is NASA's attempt at surveying our region of the Milky Way Galaxy in order to discover Earth-like planets. To survey the Milky Way they’ve built a spacecraft, called the “Kepler Spacecraft”, which launched March 7, 2009, 3:49pm. Since Kepler-452f is like Earth, and much older scientists wanted to, “reflect upon Earth’s evolving environment," and also to see if there is extraterrestrial life on those planets. This marks another milestone in the journey to finding another “Earth” . Indeed, if we were to find life we’d be on other planets, and this one in particular planets that is like Earth, hitting 2 birds with one stone. So, I agree if this mission turns out a success, the science community will enhance and be a great discovery. I state this because NASA would be the first program to find a second Earth and other life forms out there besides human.
This mission sounds perfect but is there any setbacks and issues? Actually, no not much criticism was made directed towards this, but I mean there is if you were to include 'hypothetical' issues. Some are obvious, like aliens, some are not, like time warps. Overall those issues are fictional no factual evidence to back it up. So the issues I would like to state is, religion. And there is no existence of God, it was brought to my attention by scientists and Jeff Schweitzer and the article on 'huffpost.com'. The discovery of the Kepler's really put a hole in the bible, like for example, "And God said, "Let there be light" and there was light. Well, the earth is only 4.5 billion years old, yet the universe, and all the light generating stars in ancient galaxies, are more than 13 billion years old. So when god said, "Let there be light" there already had been light shining bright for at least 10 billion years." This is a really good example and the quote is already self explanatory. This discovery brings a lot of new knowledge of our universe and our Earth itself. Going back to my old points, Kepler 452b is a lot like a Earth and older so we can explore how Earth will be in the future. In doing so we can know what to do and what not to do to jeopardize our planet. This mission and discovery is and will benefit us as the human race in general. Our technology is improving everyday, so we might even be able to live in these Earth's 2.0 as well.
These new discoveries of other planets out there and other life forms are really interesting, but arguments about religion just get that out of the way and let's just give a round of applause to our scientist and making this fascinating and really, what's the word oh yeah, AWESOME discovery. This mission really intrigued me in science knowing we might not be the only one out there. This discovery is needed because it gives us a better understanding of the universe and again, benefits us in a long run.
